Israel Attacks Key Military Installations In Iran

Half A Century Of Feud Continues

Israel has launched one of the deadliest attacks on its archenemy Iran so far.

In one of the tumultuous fractions in the Middle East, the two regional rival countries went on a rampage against each other once again. The two nations have had a stormy relations in the past half century. Iran had always sought to be a nuclear armed state something that Israel and its Western allies have always deemed as a threat to regional stability and security.

The Gulf nation has eternally seen Israel as a illegal occupant of their current settlement and had always sworn to wipe them off the map of the globe. The State of Israel which was formed in 1948 with the support of Western countries after the Second World War had always had to battle for their territorial survival. until the 1990s, almost all Middle Eastern nations were at a standoff with the Zionist regime. Deadly wars were fought between Israel and its neighbors such as the the Suez Crisis in 1956, the Six Days War in 1967 and the notable Yom Kippur War in 1973.

In order o prevent a total annihilation of the country, the Western allies decided to arm Israel with nuclear weapons for its protection and sovereignty. After  numerous economic and political summits backed by the West, tensions simmered down and Saudi Arabia, a major player in the region offered a cordial hand to Israel, largely bringing decades-long tensions to a halt. But other countries like Lebanon, Iran, Syria and neighbors in the West Bank and Gaza continued to resist Israeli existence.

The historical struggle in the region continued.

Iran sought to counter Israel by gaining its own nuclear ammunition something that the West and other regional players like Saudi Arabia had always opposed which at times have seen them placing heavy economic sanctions on the Islamic State. The current US government headed by Donald Trump is on the negotiation table with Iran to lift economic sanctions in exchange for nuclear compliance.

With little to no consultation with it allies, Israel unilaterally went ahead to attack military installations and facilities in Iran killing dozens of civilians, scientists and high ranking government officials such as the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Hossein Salami as well as Chief of Staff of military and top adviser to the supreme leader, Mohammed Bagheri.

Tehran quickly responded by sending drones and missiles to Tel Aviv, the most prominent economic center of Israel killing scores  civilians and destroying properties.

Both leaders are exchanging heated spats with world powers including Washington and Beijing calling for calm and de-escalation of tensions.
